T.O. Comedian Tim Steeves and the return of the comedy album by Mark Breslin
April 1, 2016
Tim Steeves is one of those comics who isn’t a household name, but should be. A Maritimer living in Toronto, he has been a headliner since the 80s, with a gunfire delivery and a simmering anger about injustices big and small.
NEW ALBUM RELEASE FROM COTTAGE COMEDY FAVORITE TIM STEEVES!
March 24, 2016
In 2009 Cottage Country Comedy Festival was going into our second year and looking to take things to another level. The beautiful part about Canadian Comedy is there is no shortage of incredible talent, the trick is finding the person who is not only funny but their reputation can help cement the credibility of your project. In 2009 one of those people was Tim Steeves.
At the time, Tim was a triple Gemini Award Winner and widely acclaimed writer for the Rick Mercer Report (where he still is kicking ass), so having him join the line up as one of our headliners was a huge endorsement for the fest. To say we were excited to have him there is an understatement, we had just seen him level the Diesel Playhouse Theatre (RIP) opening for Louis CK who was running his material from Chewed Up. This was right before Louis CK became the biggest comic on the planet, but I was drunk that night so I tell people CK was forgettable, Steeves I could remember his entire set!
Iconic Comedian Waits 30 Years to Deliver Debut Album (US version)
March 23, 2016
A full three decades into his stand-up career, Tim Steeves is — at long last — releasing his debut album, American Portions. Although in his defense, he’s been a pretty busy guy. As Canada’s cultural statesman of comedy, Tim has spent the past 20 years as a senior writer for The Rick Mercer Report (Canada’s Daily Show-eque program) and This Hour Has 22 Minutes (the country’s venerable news/sketch hybrid show). If that weren’t enough, he’s made countless appearances at various worldwide comedy festivals — including Just for Laughs — and recently appeared on Louis C.K.’s comedy tour.
Two decades of penning award-winning satire have only sharpened Tim’s bite. He describes American Portions as “A mix of personal stuff and observations on the current state of things.” No subject is off limits, including sex, drugs, marriage, aging, Canadian culture, and yes, the dreaded N-word.

BEN MINER AND CANADA LAUGHS PRESENT THE BEST OF 2015
December 22, 2015
One of the things we do at the channel is record albums for comedians and this year we did a lot of that. It’s hard to pick a favorite but we did just that – our favorite album recording of 2015 was by Tim Steeves! This is a comic we were very excited about getting into the Canada Laughs playlist. Tim is one of the most respected stand-ups in Canada, a veteran of all the festivals and just happens to be one of the main writers of the Rick Mercer Report. Huge. The album was recorded at Yuk Yuk’s in downtown Toronto and everything lined up to make for an awesome album. Great growd, great venue and a phenomenal comic we’ve been dying to play at the channel. Cheers to Tim Steeves, you were our favorite recording of 2015!
It’s been 5 years since the untimely passing of one of Canada’s greatest comedians, Irwin Barker. Host Ali Hassan is joined by two of Irwin’s friends; comedians Tim Steeves and Sam Easton, to share some laughs…and maybe some tears.
